About Me Welcome Plato Parents and Students________
My name is Christina Samartzis ( Kiria (Ms) Christina, as the children call me), and I am honored and privileged to be part of The Plato Academy Family.
I teach the Greek language/history and culture from Prek to 5th grade classes for 5 years now.
I am highly qualified to teach the Greek Language. I have a proficiency in the Greek Language from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) which enables me to teach Greek and which I have passed with the highest grade which is Superior. I have over 30 years experience in the Education field.
I was born in Kastoria Greece and I grew up in New York City (Manhattan) where I did my schooling. While working at a Greek news paper (Εθνικός κήρυξ - The National Herald) in Manhattan, I met my husband to whom I am happily married 38 years now. We decided to move to Greece soon after that.
We lived in Greece for about 18 years where we had two beautiful children Niko and Rania. In Greece I completed my education and taught at Homer Schools ( private schools in Athens) for 17 years. I also did private lesson.
When we came to Florida I worked at Lake Saint George Elementary in Palm Harbor as a Tutor, I tutored children in all subjects from 1st grade to 5th grade.
We moved to Pasco County because we bought a home there and I had to change schools because the drive was too long, I therefore found a school in Pasco County which was Fox Hollow Elementary and I worked there for 8 years.
Children are the joy of my life and there is nothing more rewarding for me then to be privileged and be able to take part in their education. My desire is to set a positive foundation for their future, as Plato said
"The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future in life".
"Knowledge is the food of the soul" - Plato
"Wisdom outweighs any wealth" - Sophocles
